wireless loophole
go wireless seems to be the trend these days. campus all over Singapore are on wireless, from NTU to TP all are going on this drive to equip their student the power of the net. internet is a powerful tool to people of all ages. for the very young, internet is a great source of endless gaming; to the very old it is a source of communication with their relatives overseas. oh ...there are other stuff that these people surf to but to keep it simple and pure these are basically the main reasons.
i had always felt crippled without my trustly laptop whenever i am in my new flat. not that i needed the basic Mirosoft to do my work but rather i miss surfing the net and my Googling around. once while my hubby was doing his proper work on the laptop he spoted at least 2 unprotected network in the area! we can literally tap on the network and surf effortless. if the guy (whoever he is) had not protected his network, he wouldn't have the knowledge to track who is tapping on his network then. so am i free to use his network? by right its wrong, cuz i am 'stealing' his stuff. he pays for it and i am using it without his agreement and knowledge. but it isn't too wrong if we think about it as-he is paying for it and for the amount spent he might not be using it to the full extend why not share it? at least 1 of us can save the money for other purpose?!
since we are on this sharing issue, i had gotten to know from a frd that we can actually buy the SCV services and then share it with our neighbour (must be directly next door or up/down-stairs). i spoke to my hubby and he explained it is possible with some technical solution to skip round the restrictions.
cool isn't it? i must really make the effort to make friends with my neighbours! who knows whatelse we can share in the times to come... haha....
